Is the Billet Compressor Wheel vs the Cast Compressor Wheel Worth It.  The Billet Compressor Wheel is Usually Over 100 Dollars More than the Cast Compressor wheel, Which Leads You to the Question, is the Billet Compressor Wheel Worth It or is Your Money Best Spent Somewhere Else? I Made This Video To Help You Make an Educated Decision.

Some Billet Compressor Wheels Weigh Less than the Cast compressor Wheels and Some Billet Wheels Weigh More than the Cast Compressor Wheels. I Would not Make a Decision Based on the Weight Alone. I Would Chose Based on Usable Surface Area that the Blades Can Use the Capture More Air.  In this Video I also Demonstrate an Example of a Billet Compressor Wheel that I Didnt Think Was Worth It. The Main Advantage Of Billet Compressor Wheels vs Cast is:

  1. Lighter Weight (some cases it is heavier)
  2. More Room for Air Flow
  3. More Durability (Cast Wheels can Have Air Pockets Creating Weak Spots, But Billet Wheels are machined for Solid aluminum)

  • All Ball Bearing Rebuild Parts can Be Bought But Sometimes it can Take longer to Get it, in some Cases Some Parts are rare and it just Depends How Long you are Will to wait for it.

  • Bearing Housing Oring and Bolts are the Same as Powerstroke GT37VAS GT3788VA
  • Thrust Collar Measurement is very similar to Powerstoke 360 Degree Thrust Collar, But the Height is Different: 14.75mm is the GT4088R Thrust Collar and Powerstroke Collar is 16.05mm Otherwise They are Basically the Same.
  • Ball Bearing Cage is the for GT37R, GT40R, GT42R.

To Install this Turbo You May Need TDO5 Coolant Line Install Kit, Because The thread Pitch of the TDO4 and VF turbos for the Coolant is Different than the MHI TDO5 TDO6 Which is M14 x 1.5. You can buy this coolant kit on ebay Here. (turbo oil feed line water pipe install gasket kit for subaru EJ20 EJ25)

NOTE: 2011+ Year STI Requires Rotation kit to install the turbo upgrade with the 3″ inlet compressor Housing. You must use the 3″ compressor housing for the Compressor wheels 56mm and Larger.
