HE351CW Compressor Wheel Upgrade

Below I will introduce you to our available billet compressor wheel options 60mm 62.45mm and 67mm. But first here are the factory specs.

2003 – 2004 Dodge ram 2500 & 3500 factory turbo specs: 54mm x 78mm or 56mm x 78mm (7+7 blade) compressor wheel, and 58 x 65mm turbine wheel.

2004 – 2007 Dodge ram 2500 & 3500 factory turbo specs: 60mm x 86mm (hx40 7+7 blade compressor wheel)

Our upgraded compressor wheel and housings are for the 2004.5 -2007 Dodge ram with the 5.9 cummins, if you want to use our compressor housing and wheel on the 2003 – 2004 model, the bearing housing will have to be machined to fit the larger exducer of the compressor wheel (factory is 78mm and the upgrades range from 86 to 89mm, the bearing housing’s compressor wheel pocket has to be machined 1.2mm larger than the compressor wheel) or you can buy our HE351CW bearing housing from our Ebay listing which is machined for our 67mm compressor wheel and compressor housing oring. . Also the boost control solenoid will need to be deleted to work on the 2003 – 2004 model turbos. There are block off plates available on Ebay as well.

Here are our compressor wheel and housing upgrade options for the 2005 – 2007 5.9 Cummins turbo models: 62.45mm x 86mm 650hp option (click to buy from our Ebay listing) and 67mm x 89mm x 95mm 725hp option (click to buy from our Ebay listing). It is recommended to use our turbine housing and turbine wheel in combination of the compressor wheel upgrade, to increase hp and lower EGTs and drive pressure. We also have built turbos available. We also machine our bearing housings for O-rings to insure that the compressor housing will seal properly, the turbo original does not have a seal for the compressor housing.

HX40 Compressor Wheel and Housing

We are proud to provide new HX40 compressor wheel and housings for easy HX35/HX40 hybrid upgrades!

Here are the details:

  • Brand new 62.45 mm x 86mm compressor housing for 7 blade HX40
  • Brand New 62.45 mm x 86mm x 90mm Extended Tip billet compressor wheel

Compressor Wheel Details:

  • Slimnose hub
  • ~145 grams (larger but weigh about the same as stock)
  • Thin blades
  • Machined from solid aluminum
  • Extended blades
  • 60 x 86 x 89.5mm
  • Balanced and ready to install

What else do you need To know to install this on your HX35 or HX40:

  • Your bearing housing must be machined to 87.5mm to accept the HX40 compressor Wheel
  • HX35 7 blade compressor wheels are 54mm x 78mm, so the bearing housing will need to be machined from 79.2 to 87.2mm for the compressor wheel to fit
  • HX35 8 blade compressor wheels are 56mm x 83mm, so the bearing housing will need to be machined from 84.2 to 87.2mm for the compressor wheel to fit
  • Take note that the HX40 8 blade is 57mm x 82mm, so the bearing housing for that will have to be machined also
  • We do machine bearing housings for $20, but most people take their bearing housing to a local machine shop, so they don’t have to wait on shipping down time

Is the Billet Compressor Wheel vs the Cast Compressor Wheel Worth It.  The Billet Compressor Wheel is Usually Over 100 Dollars More than the Cast Compressor wheel, Which Leads You to the Question, is the Billet Compressor Wheel Worth It or is Your Money Best Spent Somewhere Else? I Made This Video To Help You Make an Educated Decision.

Some Billet Compressor Wheels Weigh Less than the Cast compressor Wheels and Some Billet Wheels Weigh More than the Cast Compressor Wheels. I Would not Make a Decision Based on the Weight Alone. I Would Chose Based on Usable Surface Area that the Blades Can Use the Capture More Air.  In this Video I also Demonstrate an Example of a Billet Compressor Wheel that I Didnt Think Was Worth It. The Main Advantage Of Billet Compressor Wheels vs Cast is:

  1. Lighter Weight (some cases it is heavier)
  2. More Room for Air Flow
  3. More Durability (Cast Wheels can Have Air Pockets Creating Weak Spots, But Billet Wheels are machined for Solid aluminum)
