I’ve seen some of your videos and in the market for a new turbo. I have a VW VR6 and looking at either a GTX3582, GTX3584RS or equivalent PTE or Turbo lab version. The GTX3584RS flow map shows better efficiency and lower wheels speed than the 3582.

Can you build a customize turbo that flows and spoils like a GTX3584RS? PTE or turbo lab housings?
I would like Vband, coolant line, and anti surge options.

I’m not sure what compressor Wheel the gtx3584rs uses, is that a t67 66.6 x 84 compressor. What hp are you trying to achieve ?

Hey I have some shaft play in my 2003 6.0 power stroke. I and to rebuild it but I have some questions. 1 if I rebuild it will it take out the shaft play? It does not touch the housing but it’s time is near. 2 do you want the Turbo balanced when rebuilt? I had a mechanic tell me that but never once heard it in your videos. Thanks for the help!

The turbo should have enough play where it nearly touches the housings. If the turbo operates fine and does not smoke then it does not need a rebuild. Rebalancing is not always needed, there are specs that are allowable for a turbo to be balanced and work correctly, we have a west coast turbo balancer and we use it to balance all of our assemblies.usually the powerstroke assemblies are the farthest off but that’s because the tolerances are not as critical, but we can still balance them out to less than 1 inch gram.

Ok I did change my oil the other day to full synthetic and it has a slight oil burning smell now. Do you think it would be the turbo? I’m going to have the turbo off anyways to do my egr delete and tune. Should I just go ahead and rebuild it wile I’m there? Thanks!
